Parent Letter (Extremely important)

As you would be aware the Year 12s have their retreat 11 -13 March 2015. As parents/guardians
you have a key role to play in helping them to believe.
The theme of the Retreat is Believe.

To believe in their relationship with themselves, with others and God.

To believe in their potential and opportunity to make a difference.
To believe that they area a symbol of peace and hope.

The climax and most emotionally charged part of the Retreat is when the students receive your
letter.
This is an opportunity for you to express to your son or daughter the wonderful qualities that he or
she has. We all lead busy lives and often take for granted that those we love know how we feel or
think about them. However, we all need affirmation, we all need nurturing, we all need to hear
those words of love, of acceptance of encouragement.
I ask you to please create a quiet space for yourselves, to sit down and take the time to put in
writing the incredible qualities your son or daughter has. If you havent already done so could you
please complete the letter and return to the college no later than Tuesday March 3.
Students are not aware of the parent letters and we would like to keep the parent letters confidential
and would appreciate that they are not mentioned to your child. The letter should be sealed in an
envelope addressed to your child, marked Year 12 Retreat then delivered to Mater Dei College
Student Services office or posted to the above post box address.
To assist, I have attached a sample of the structure you could use for your letter.
Thank you for supporting your child and the College Retreat in this way.

Kind regards

Lynda Curtis
Year 12 Coordinator
