Atletico Madrid will welcome Sevilla at the Calderon tonight,
Sunday January 24th for a La Liga matchup. Atletico Madrid is leading
the standings with 47 points. Sevilla FC is in 7th place with 32 points.
Before the game commences there will be a ceremony of planting an
olive tree between the players on both teams. This ceremony is to
promote the message of creating a culture of peace by Pope Francisco.
Atletico Madrid is carrying great momentum into this game being
in first place. It is said that even when they are not playing well, they
still look like they will win. Thomas Partey, a relatively new member of
this squad has made a definite impact from his debut at the end of
November. Partey has been crucial when Atletico has needed it and he
will be a key player to watch out for in this match against Sevilla.
Atletico also has Fernando Torres. He had a lot of trouble when he was
at Chelsea before he was traded to Atletico Madrid where he now
seems to fit in better with this team. Koke will be another playmaker to
look out for in this game against Sevilla.
The leading scorer from Atletico Madrid is Antoine Griezmann
with 12 goals. From Sevilla, Kevin Gameiro has 11 goals and could be a
possible scorer for Sevilla tonight.
There are two game tactics for Sevilla players. The first is the
attacking formation of 4-2-3-1. This is used in all home matches and at
some away matches against weaker teams. The formation they will
most likely use and will be the best against a strong team like Madrid is
a 4-2-1-3. This will be used because the defense is more strong and
stable so look out for this formation tonight.
All points are crucial, especially for Atletico Madrid wanting to
keep their first place position since Barcelona is only two points behind
them but Sevilla will not make it easy for this 1st place team.
