To Whom It May Concern
The best experience of the entire process of doing my senior project was how rewarding it was to
actually have an art show. The moment in which everything came together and my art show
happened was so surreal. All my time and effort put into my art show worked out for the best as I
‘was thoroughly pleased with the way my senior project played out. I am so glad I got to donate
money to the Lust Garden Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research and that a hospital gets the
artwork that was not sold. The worst experience of the entire process of doing my senior project,
was not knowing if would have enough artwork at my art show. I had to really advertise and
tell alot of people to get to my goal of twenty pieces. I was actually able to get twenty seven.
While doing my senior project, along the way I learned that I was fully capable of doing the
project. Some part of me was afraid I could not make it happen or that I would fail. 1 was also
surprised with how much people showed me support and that I had a good turn out. Completing
my senior project allowed me to see things in more depth by showing that I could make a
difference even if it was small. By donating the money to Pancreatic Cancer Research I am
helping the cause I care so much about, By donating the unsold artwork to a hospital, am
helping brighten patients and their families’ day, even if it is small
J was a bit surprised by the complexity of my project once I began my research and fieldwork.
Through my research I learned just how much art and the process of creation is valued among
cancer patients. When I started my fieldwork, I realized there were quite a lot of parts to my art
show that had to be figured out in order for me to host it.
Through doing my senior project I saw teachers in a different light as I realized just how much
teachers are willing to help hardworking students. If you show you truly care about learning and
moving forward in the learning process, teachers are more than willing to help. [also saw
students in a different light as well. Students that enjoyed creating artwork were willing to donate
artwork to me. Sure, there were some students that did not help me but I noticed that those who 1
had created a relationship with were more than willing to help support me in creating artwork for
ny art show. Seeing teachers and students under a different light helped me see the broader
oepicture of the educational process. | understand now that the educational process is more than
Just achieving good grades in hopes to be able to go to a good college and have a good career.
‘There also is a side to education that allows you to take what you enjoy, explore it, and build
your education and career around what you love and what you want to do. You ean use the
‘educational process to help further and better your education in the field you want to study
The aspect of my Senior Project that stretched me the most was having to put myself out there
and advertise my art show in order (o get artwork at my show and for people to come to my art
show. I had to fully take charge on my own which is hard for me as a person wio is always
seeking validation. I reacted to this challenge well as I realized I had to do what had to be done in
preparing for my project. { followed the steps and the rest just fell into place. 1 am now much
better at talking to people, [ have more experience with putting myself out there, and I can use
this experience in the future. During the learning stretch I was scared but | also knew if I trusted
myself, my mentor, and the process, I would be able to complete my Senior Project with success.
‘Now that my project is over, | feel accomplished. | fecl that I finally was able to have a part in
‘contributing to Pancreatic Cancer Research in a means that | enjoy, through art. I feel that I have
taken a bigger step in healing the wound that was created by my Nana passing from Pancreatic
Cancer. | felt so helpless when she was dying and I finally was able to take some control and
give back to her.
Completing the Senior Project affected the way I approach work, dealing with people, and
presenting myself publicly. | approach work with less dread and am more willing to face
challenges. I have more experience in dealing with people and I am now less scared to put
‘myself out there in talking to people I don't know or don't know that well. I realized that if I have
to get something done, there are no exceptions, and I will talk to people even if it makes me
uncomfortable, which is now significantly less, since T need to get to the end point. I present
myself publicly as my professional self. I present myself publicly with a purpose and I show that
I care. When people see that you care, they will more likely have a better respect for you.
Tam so glad I got the opportunity to complete a Senior Project as it has taught me a lot about
myself and has given me skills I can use in the future.
Sincerely,
Bune Yoryp—O
