5.1

Identify social policy at the local, state, and federal level that
impacts well-being, service delivery, and access to social services

Example: Laws/statues prohibit Felons to apply for certain jobs, vote, and receive
social services. This hinders clients from receiving the best rehabilitation services
that aid in integration into the community.

5.2

Assess how social welfare and economic policies

impact the delivery of and access to social services

Example: Felons cannot receive Medicare so this makes it impossible to refer them
to a clinic to receive treatment for a mental health issue, because it will unlikely
they will have insurance to cover the cost of the medication.

5.3

Apply critical thinking to analyze, formulate, and advocate for policies

that advance human rights and social, economic, and environmental justice

Example: Collaborate with reentry council to advocate for "Ban the Box" campaign
that will allow million of ex-convicts to be able to apply for jobs and services.
