Ion Chromatography
Ion chromatography separates ions by using an ion exchange column that has a stationary phase
of positive ions and a mobile phase of negative ions. Chromatography is a general technique that
uses analyte properties to separate analytes from one another. With the Ion chromatograph that is
being used with an ancient computer.
The basic procedure:
Cross the orange to the white and turn on pressure to sparge with H2 gas. Then turn off gas flow
and fix the gas lines. Turn on the bypass valve and then turn on the gas and the pump and the
pump. This will purge the system. The alarm will start to beep, so turn the pump off and then on
again two times.
Then go to the computer and click on dionics, set up the method and the schedule, and set it for
the number of minutes expected to run. Then prepare to inject the sample (not explained yet).
