Global Tectonics/Geotectonics Homework 2

Due 2/18/2016
10 points each
1). Using the Absolute Motion Calculator
(http://tectonics.rice.edu/hs3.html), compute the absolute linear velocity
(rate and direction) of Houston, Texas
2). Using the Relative Motion Calculator (http://ofgs.aori.utokyo.ac.jp/~okino/platecalc_new.html), compute the relative velocity of
Houston, Texas relative to the South American plate
3). Literature searching is a key skill for scientists and engineers, and is
required for creating the class presentations for this class. Using Scopus
(http://www.scopus.com) , find out how many articles have the words in
your assigned presentation topic in the Article Title, Abstract, and
Keywords. Note that Scopus contains many non-article items (e.g.,
conference papers etc.), and you need to check Article under Document
Type and push Limit to in order to get the correct number.
4). Choose any geoscientist and find out the number of articles that he/she
published over the past 5 years (2012-2016) using Scopus. How many
times has the author being cited over his/her whole career?
