Struggle
• Born on 21st April 1978.

• Abandoned by his birth mother at age 3

• lived on the street of Las Vegas

• At age five, while living in an orphanage, he fell under a lawnmower and lost his
left foot

• Adopted by a family in Utah at age 9

• Struggled through high school

• In 1997, he decided to participate in the Simplot Games in Idaho


Achievements
• He entered the high jump & created the Para-Olympic World Record of 6’6”

• In 1999, created two world records in the 100-meter dash and long jump

• In 2000, at the Para-Olympic Games in Sydney ,won the 100m dash and took silver
in the high jump

• Became the first and only lower leg amputee to break the 11.00 seconds mark
(10.97)

• At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, won the Paralympics 100-meter gold medal
for the second straight time

• Is a 10-time World Champion and Olympic Champion

• Is an avid pilot with training and schooling in Aeronautical Engineering
