1 Introduction
The Transceiver Group Synchronization (TG Synchronization) function is used for GSM to
synchronize 2 to 16 RBSs on a site. The synchronized RBSs are considered to be a TG
cluster. All RBSs within the TG cluster are interconnected through the External
Synchronization Bus (ESB).
This document describes how to connect RBS 6000 with RBS 2000 using external ESB
cables.

see the RBS 2000 documentation.

2 Synchronization between RBS 6000 and RBS 2000 Hardware

This section contains information about the hardware used for synchronization between RBS
6000 and RBS 2000.
The table below shows the synchronization parts used for synchronization between RBS
6000 and RBS 2000.

2.1 ESB Cable for Connection between DUG and DXU-31

This section describes the ESB cable used to connect the Digital Unit GSM (DUG) in RBS
6000 to the DXU-31 in RBS 2000.

2.2 ESB Cable for Connection between DUG and DXU-23

This section describes the ESB cables used to connect DUG to DXU-23 for TG
synchronization.

2.3 ESB Cable for Connection between DUG and DXU-21

This section describes the ESB cables used to connect DUG to DXU-21 for TG
synchronization.
Use the cables described in Section 2.2 between DUG and the connection field of the RBS
with DXU-21.
Use the cable described in Figure 5 as the internal ESB cable between the connection field
and DXU-21.

2.4 ESB Terminators

An ESB terminator must be connected to unused ESB connectors on the DXU and ESB
cables. Depending on the DXU and ESB cable types in the RBS, different ESB terminators
must be used.

3 Connections between DUG and DXU-31

This section describes how to connect DUG to DXU-31 with ESB in a GSM configuration. An
example of the connection is shown in Figure 8 and the connections between DUG to DXU31 are described in Table 2.
