State Objectives
Students will view a 50 minute presentation on digital literacy. Through careful viewing of a
powerpoint presentation, as well as hands on use of a mock social media page, students
will understand and compose a 2-4 pg. essay on the understanding of their impact on digital
media through their digital footprint. The essay must include 5 key terms from the
powerpoint, 3 reasons why reducing our digital footprint is important, and 1 way in which
they plan to reduce their digital footprint.
Select Methods, Media, , and Materials
1. Methods: Instruction through lecture, and application of understanding.
2. Media: Powerpoint presentation, mock social media programs
3. Materials: Handout, PCs
Utilize Media, Materials, and Methods

1. I will preview the powerpoint for credibility, and utilize practice within the mock social
media pages.
2. I will need to prepare various scenarios the students may encounter when leaving a
digital footprint.
3. The presentation will take place within the computer lab in which the lighting will be
lowered during the powerpoint presentation so that the students may view the Smart
Board accurately. The temperature shall remain consistent, and students will sit in their
assigned seats.
4. I will engage the students using a funny meme that foreshadows the lesson.

Evaluate & Revise
1. Student Performance
Create a rubric based on the objectives that you listed in the second part of this
lesson plan as detailed as possible.
2. Media Effectiveness
The powerpoint was functional, and the social media program worked well.
3. Instructor Performance
I would deem the lesson effective if about of the class understood the material that
was lectured on. The students knowledge will be tested in the group discussion, and
they will be further evaluated upon completion of their essay.
