2016 Mantra for Respect

Week 5

Walk in the Shoes of Others

We dont know the reason why people say, do, feel, or
have a certain opinion.
Jumping to conclusions isnt helpful; by asking we may
get an understanding.
Sometimes we need to accept and support without
knowledge.
Value everyone, see the good in everyone, give people
the benefit of the doubt. Instead of
She snobbed me. Try I wonder what is on her mind,
maybe shes got a lot on her mind?
He wont play with us. Try maybe he just wants quiet
time, his dog is sick.
Why cant she do it for herself. Try maybe she
doesnt know how and needs some help.
Accept their differences.
Treat others as you would like to be treated, with
kindness, honesty and courage.

School Swimming Sports Cancelled

This year the New Brighton Community Pool is unavailable.
Yr 5-8 children will have an opportunity to put forward a case
to be included in the Eastern Zone Swimming competition by
sharing their training, results at camp events, and past results.
While this is disappointing, it is a continuing effect of the loss
of QE2 as a venue.

Food and the Effects on Your Brain

From Spectrum Education. There are several foods to avoid
when wanting highest brain function.

Sugar. Lollies, sweets, chocolate and the like give a

temporary lift to blood sugar levels but then leave you
feeling lower than when you started eating them. Which
sets up a craving for more to increase blood sugar again.
MSG, flavour enhancer 621. Foods containing
Monosodium Glutamate also contain excito-toxins which
are harmful for the brain. This additive causes mental
fatique and a slowing down of thinking and therefore
learning.
