CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION

School is a place where teaching learning process happen. There are teacher and
students in school. Students going to school to get new knowledge from school. Committee
and school staff operate the school using school management. Management itself is the art of
getting things done through people. In a broader sense, it is the process of planning,
organising, leading and controlling the efforts of organisation members and of using all other
organisational resources to achieve stated organisational goals.

School management can be broadly classified into four groups. There are Process
School, Human Relations School, Decision School, and System and Contingency School.
Process School is management in terms of functions undertaken by the manager in an
integrated way to achieve organisational purposes. Human Relations School is emphasises
the human aspect of organisation and conceives it as a social system. It is a social system
because managerial actions are principally concerned with relations between people.
Decision School is management as rule-making and rule-enforcing body. In fact the life of a
manager is a perpetual choice making activity and whatever a manager does, he does through
his decisions. Moreover, decision making power provides a dynamic force for managers to
transform the resource of business organisation into a productive and cooperative concern.
System and Contingency School is designing organisations adaptable to changing markets,
technology and other critical environmental factors. The systems theory of organisations are
organic and open systems consisting of interacting and interdependent parts and having a
variety of goals. Besides that, there are also many school management activities. Those are
kesiswaan, curriculum, ketenagaan, facilities, finances, organization, technology information,
public relation, and internal supervise. Here, I want to explain only three of those; technology
information, organization, and public relation, based on my interview and observation in
MTsN Arjasa, Jember.

CHAPTER II
DISCUSSION

Technology Information
MTsN Arjasa is using technology information to support their school. Not only for teaching
learning process but also school operation. For example:

Data Input

MTsN Arjasa using technology information for data input, like teachers and students
biography, money income or outcome for school. MTsN Arjasa is using WIFI to help
teacher and TU Staff. Teachers use WIFI for teaching learning process. TU Staff uses
WIFI for school needs. MTsN Arjasa has been started to use examination online
program at once.

Score Input

Score system input in MTsN Arjasa was no longer use old method in score input like
teachers write the score manually and count the score manually. Because of MTsN
Arjasa was using Technology Information, teachers are using computer for score
input. It makes teacher faster and more efficient in input students score.

Schools Website

MTsN Arjasa are using website for some needs. For example, posting a recent news
about the school. Besides that, schools website inform students recruitment

Teaching Media

MTsN Arjasa provides three projectors that can be used for teacher in teaching
learning process.

Technology Information Laboratory

MTsN Arjasa has technology information laboratory to teach computer or technology


information subject. Moreover twenty computer are in the laboratory.

Facilities
The result of our observation conducted in Mtsn Arjasa on September 22, 2014 about
school facilities. The total buildings of Mtsn Arjasa are:
1. The school has 14 classrooms, they are :
a. 5 classrooms for seventh grade.
b. 5 classrooms for eight grade.
c. 4 classrooms for ninth grade.
In Mtsn Arjasa there are two types of classroom, especially for regular class and
excellent class. Excellent class uses multimedia room and has both white and blackboard, but
in regular class. It only use blackboard without viewer. The examples of excellent classes are:
a. Classroom 7 E
b. Classroom 8 E
c. Classroom 9 D
If there is a defect in school facilities, the teachers or students who found it can report
to the head of school infrastructure and team. After that, the head of school infrastructure
report it to school treasurer. It will get 20 % of fund BOS that is used for fixing and caring.
Every room has one inventory which is used for reporting the data. It contains of the list of
thing inside the rooms. It hangs on the wall.
2. Biology laboratory
It has a good service which is needed for support the teaching learning process.
There are some microscopes, human props, animal props etc. it is completed with
some large table for observation, but there is no sink.
3. Library
To keep the library has a good service and provides complete books, the head of
school infrastructure involves all the school community such as students, teachers,
and gardeners for some responsibilities in caring it. There are complete books for
seventh that is suitable with curriculum 2013, but for eight and ninth grade are
some textbooks. The fund comes from government, parents of the students and
people around school.
4. Computer laboratory
It contains 40 units of computer. It has two air conditioners and viewer. It
completes with green carpet so the room is comfortable. The students are not
allowed to enter it if they wear their shoes.
5. School clinic

It has a good service especially complete medicine, two comfortable beds which
have small and medium size. It is not kind of UKS, but it is a real clinic.
6. School administration room
It is used for accept the guest. It is a place where the school manages their finance.
The teachers who come at that day for presence, they can go there, because this
school is used finger print for presence.
7. Lavatories, they are:
a. 9 lavatories for students
b. 2 lavatories for teachers.
c. 1 lavatory for head master.
8. Hall
This is not real hall, because it combines two big classes so it is used like a hall.
When it conducted for teaching learning process, the two classes are separated by
moveable wall (wood wall).
9. Mosque
It is a big mosque, because it used not only for school community but also for
society. Inside the room, there a green carpet which has a good quality. The center of
room, there is a big chandelier which has good ornaments. In the left side, it is used
for female and the right side, it is used for male.

12. Canteen
There are two canteens which sell some food, snacks and beverages. In the left
side, it sells mainly beverages better than food or snacks. It is clean and tidy, but
it is too small. When the break time came, it was so crowded, because the area is
small.

It provides students needs such as stationary (pen, pencil, book, notebook, paper,
ruler, eraser, correction pen, highlighter, etc).

Public Relations
The Function of Public Relation in MTsN Arjasa
The main function of relationship between MTsN Arjasa and society is to
attract people and to increase relation to MTsN Arjasa. It can help to make school
programs successful. So, it will make the purpose of education can be achieved by
MTsN Arjasa like what it wants to achieve. The function of relationship between
MTsN Arjasa and society is:
1. To organize relationship between school and students parents.
2. To make a good relationship between school and school committee.
3. To maintain and develop relationship between school with government institutions,
other institutions and government organizations.
4. To inform about the function of the school to society with many kinds of technique

The Purpose of Public Relation in MTsN Arjasa
The purpose of relationship between MTsN Arjasa and society is making
popularity in society. The popularity will be achieved if MTsN Arjasa can make
good school programs that relevant with students needs and also can make students
have good intellectual and spiritual. The school will be exist and grow forward by

Public relation in MTsN Arjasa has main job to help head master in some kinds

The Kinds of Activities of Public Relation in MTsN Arjasa


a. External Activities
These activities have relation and focus on government institutions and society.

There are two activities in these kinds of activities.


Indirect act
This activity is making relationship between the school and society by using media
such as informing information about school to society by using radio, news paper

and internet (website of MTsN Arjasa).


Direct act
This activity is making relationship between the school and society by using face to
face such as meeting with committee of school, making a consultation with master
in education, etc.

b. Internal Activities
These activities are to give some information to people at school such as teachers,
school staffs and students. There are two kinds of activity that can be done by the
school.

This activity is to give some information to the people at school by using letters,
information board, school madding, school bulletin, etc.
Direct act
This activity is to give some information to the people at school by using meeting
with all of the teachers, school ceremony, recreation day, etc.

Special Program of Public Relation in MTsN Arjasa

Relationship between school and society will run well if it is supported by
some factors.

There are activities that can increase relationship between school and society.

CHAPTER III
CONCLUSION
School management has important role in school. Because of school management is
the process of planning, organising, leading and controlling the efforts of organisation
members and of using all other organisational resources to achieve stated organisational
goals. Teacher and school staff or TU staff have to work together to achieve schools goals.
MTsN Arjasa has nine kinds of school management. Those are curriculum, kesiswaan,
ketenagaan, facilities, finances, organizing, technology information, public relation, and
internal supervise. School management components has different function, but they itegrate
each other. Therefore, each components have to fulfill completely.
