LITTER IS A PROBLEM IN OUR CITIES

Litter is garbage like food, bits of paper, odds and ends, and empty bottles, cans
lying about on the ground, in the street or in public places. Our cities are very large and
many people do not care about the beauty of their city. They do not always put the paper in
a litter bin or in a garbage can. It is easy for them to drop it in the street. But litter is ugly
and it spoils the view. Litter is a health problem, too. Food and garbage bring animals and
these animals sometimes carry disease. When the wind blows it carries the papers far away
and it is difficult to catch them. If you go on a trip to the mountains or to the seaside you
must pick up your litter after a picnic. People must work together in groups to clean up
their city. People pay a fine if they throw papers in the street.
