A-REVOLUTION IN LEARNING
January 28, 2016,
Attention; Office of Undergraduate Admissions
Dear Sir or Madam:
tis my pleasure to recommend James Crisafulli for study atthe college level. OFall of my students,
James established himself early as one of the most dedicated, responsible, hardworking, and self
rvoivate salen.
[first met James last year while I was teaching a course called English 11. I was impressed with not
only his work ethic, but also his level of organizational skills. I often used James's work as an
‘example forthe rest ofthe class to follow. He always seems to putin a supreme effort. For
example, James and his classmates were to design their own socioty as complementary assignment
to reading the novel, The Road. Each student was to design a utopian society, a perfect world, T
anticipated thatthe end result for every student would be less-than-perfect; proving that there is no
such thing asa perfect society. However, James's society was as close to perfect as it could get. He
applied what he had learned in his vocational major, Computer Technology, and created a self-
sustaining society. I saved a copy of to use as an example for future students. Needless to say, I was
impressed, but not just with the concept. The level of sophistication and thought that went int the
project was unparalleled by his classmates.
James is curently enrolled ina section of an English course of mine, Adolescent Literature. Uhave
‘come to depend on him for insight into the literature we read in class. [know I can depend on him,
not only to have his work done, but also to make thought-provoking insights that shape the
classroom discussion, Despite James’ learning differences, he works harder than most ofthe kids
here, and consistently produces excellent work. He pours himself into each assignment, and actually
docs his homework the way it was intended, as an extension of what goes on in class. He hasn't
missed a day of school, or an assignment, despite the fact that he and his family are dealing with a
recent tragedy affecting their home. He i a quiet, unassuming and bright young man,
James is eager 1 get the most out ofall his educational opportunities. Most ofall, James is a hard
‘worker, «quality rapidly disappearing among high school seniors. From my observations of James in
lass, itis clear to me that he likes to challenge himself. He willbe successful in whatever he
attempis because ofthese qualities. Again, itis my pleasure to recommend James for collegiate
study,
Sincerely,
Ethan Oh
