Required Photographs

For our nature unit you will need to shoot, edit, and hand in a photo for each of the following categories. You
may not hand in the same photo twice. Be sure that the photographs you turn in fit the category AND are
photos you are really proud of.

1. The Desert
--Find the beauty in your desert and photograph it.
--Seek out native plants and animals, not domesticated ones
--Look for desert landscapes

2. Macro or Telephoto
--Use a macro lens or your camera or phone's macro setting to shoot an extreme close up
--Focus on details and textures
--Watch your focus. Extremely small depth of field can be problematic if the focus is misplaced.
--OR use a telephoto lens to photograph something natural from a distance
--Birds are an excellent subject for this
--Utilize the compressed perspective to your advantage

3. Human impact
--This is the only nature photo where man-made objects are allowed. Actually, they're somewhat required.
--Create a photograph that showcases the human impacts on the environment
--This must be found not created.

4. In the style of Ansel Adams

--After reviewing Ansel Adams' work create a photograph in his style
--Utilize a polarizing filter, red filter and/or editing techniques to deepen the contrast and darken the sky

5. Open
--If you have a nature photograph that didn't fit into one of the above categories...
--Or, if you have an extra one from one of the above categories that you think is really excellent...
--Hand it in for the Open assignment
--It still needs to be nature, and it shouldn't be an almost identical copy of one of your other photos.
