First Annual Membership Drive
2010 – 2011

Purpose

To increase membership in order to promote awareness of communication


sciences and disorders, promote volunteerism, and educate undergraduate and
graduate students about opportunities available to them through the
department and the university

Where

In front of PCD 1147, located in the Communication Sciences &


Disorders/Psychology building at USF, Tampa campus

When

Tuesday, August 31, 2010 @ 12:30 - 2:30 PM


Thursday, September 2, 2010 @ 12:30 - 2:30 PM

How many people will be required to run the event?

 Treasurer: collects dues for membership, give out receipts


 1 officer: processes application
 1 officer: gives out t-shirts/takes orders for polo shirt
 2 officers: run bake sale (to be explained below)

Fundraising Activities to Take Place

 Bake Sale
o Only for undergraduate session
o Officers will make brownies, cookies, etc to sell
o NSSLHA will buy soda/water to sell for $0.50 to $1.00
o Starbucks will donate coffee/creamer/sugar
 Contact person: Lauren Bruno
 NSSLHA member who is a barista

 Selling Polo Shirts


o Members will have the opportunity to purchase an official USF-
NSSLHA Polo Shirt for $35.00
 NSSLHA buys the shirts for $20.00, making a $15 dollar
profit for each shirt
 35 people purchase: $525

 Selling Membership for 2 Semesters


o Cost of one year membership: $20.00
 Includes: t-shirt, food at meeting every months, admittance
to guest speakers throughout the semester
o Possible Profit
 Net Price for t-shirt: $8.00
 Profit: $12.00
 100 people sign up: $1200

Materials Needed

 Two tables (already in possession of the club)


 Banner (already in possession of the club)
 Cash box
 Laptop in order for people to fill out membership application at the time
of the drive
 Receipt book (already in possession of the club)
 Bake sale merchandise

Monetary Cost

 Order of 100 t-shirts: $856.00


 Materials for bake sale: $50
 Copies of promotional brochure: $0
o USF students get 40 free copies a day times
o 8 officers can make up to 320 copies per day
 Total Cost: $906.00

Possible Monetary Outcome if:


 100 people sign up for membership: $2000.00
 Of those 100, 35 people order a polo-shirt: $1225.00
 Bake Sale: $150.00
o Amount based on past bake sales over one week
 Total Money Collected: $3375.00
 Total Profit based on 100 members: $2469.00
