Character

Think about all of the horror films youve seen, both old and new. There is likely
to be a particular trait that has had the most impact on you, whether it be
demons, the possessed, the psychologically disturbed, ghosts, animals, fictional
creatures, etc. Spend a minute adopting a trait and applying it to a new character.
Start walking around the room as you normally would as if you were walking
to the shops. We have a scale of 1-10; 1 being you now and 10 being your
character with a fully fledged personality, defining characteristics and traits
unique to yourself.
Let them walk around for a minute as themselves, then increase it to 2. Give them
another minute or two. Slowly increase the numbers giving them slightly more time
with each increase. Allowing more time between jumps will hopefully give them a
little more time to develop their walk. At 4 or 5, ask them to think about speed.
Does your character walk fast/slow? Are they always the same speed? Ask them
about height. Are they humanistic in the way they walk? Do they make noise? At 7
or 8, ask them to think about interaction. Are they aggressive? Passive? Are they
aware of their surroundings? Remember to leave slightly longer between each
increase. At 10, give them a few minutes to interact. Encourage movement, noises.
Eventually, without warning, take it up to 15. Gently come to a stop.
Audience Interaction
Pair up and stand opposite each other in two opposing lines a good few metres
apart. Take a run up to your partner and get as close as you can without touching
them. Try to remain in character.
