Representing Histories:

With these eyes I see

With just one smile
Oh my hero, rising through the air
With fair ideas galloping through his mind.
His promises made me cry, they made me feel proud
He seem fair , just, a true hero ascending to the sky.
You can't mistake him, that guy with the mustache and shorts
with such great pride.
With just one gesture,
the Nazi Party came for the Jews,
With another gesture ,
they came for the Communists,
And with another gesture ,
they came for the trade unionists.
I didn't speak for them because I wasn't one of them.
So Great to Be Me!!
I met him as a representative of the Protestant Church,
Shortly after he became chancellor in 1932.
With just one smile ,He promised me , on his word of Honor,
to protect the Church and not to issue any anti-Church law
But with just one smile
later on he came for me.
And then there was no one else to speak for me.
That smile deceived me and ended my admiration
As I was sent to his concentration camp, I screamed ET, TU , Hitler ?

As he responded "Mein Kamp just began"

Martin Niemller, a Lutheran pastor and theologian who was born in

Germany in 1892. At one time a supporter of Hitlers policies, he
eventually came to oppose the Nazis and as a result was arrested
and confined to the Sachsenhausen and Dachau concentration
camps from 1938 to 1945. After narrowly avoiding execution, he was
liberated by the Allies in 1945. Niemller was not a Holocaust
denier, nor did he deny his own personal guilt.

No Surrender for the Japanese

"To endure the unendurable and bear the unbearable"
was our Emperor Hirohito's motto for 14 years.
For fourteen Years you and I have killed,
many lovable things, kill by shooting, kill by assassination, kill by poisoning.

No sir, we don't surrender,

we will fight until there are no more weapons , until there are no more soldiers , until the land is
wasted.
We will track them down , you and I, and we will follow him until the dark.

No sir, we don't surrender,

That is our motto and Bushido is our code.
"Do not live in shame as a prisoner. Die, and leave no ignominious crime behind you."
We have always lived by this and we will die with this.

Sacrifice is a term you and I know well.

Just how I know my own shadow in the vast darkness of our enemy.
It doesn't matter if you are with or against the war,

We are Japanese soldiers we don't surrender.

You might think we are foolish by committing suicide , fighting even if we oppose
No we don't surrender, Hiro won't surrender, I will not surrender,
Even if the sky is falling , we won't surrender
Until my last breath I will not surrender
1......2.......3...... KaBOOM

America , I will be your Knight

I will fight for my country !!!

I will prove my loyalty to you .
I will be your Knight and shining armor !

I will fight for the American Dream ,

I will fight for citizenship,
I will fight for a better life ,
I will fight for all these broken promises ,
I will fight to be forgotten,

America what a great country to fight for!

Oh glorious country, lend me your power to build an army
America , America, America
what a beautiful name, what a beautiful gal,
We will protect you as long as you do me right!

Pearl Harbor here we come,

Hiroshima here we come,
Japan here we come,
German here we come
World here we come

Slow, unprepared, but valiant , we come

I will fight , I will defend ,I will catch them all until the very end

Training, planning, strategy.

President Roosevelt ,your deal has made us happy men
When I come back those papers better me signed .

Caught , unaware, unprepared

Don't worry it's okay, I your knight and shining armor will protect you as long as you sign those papers.
We will defend it until the very end

Tired. Sacred. Depressed

We came back
There were no parades , no recognition, no medal, no papers
Of course we left as their only hope, the people of color
And we came back as just the same but with broken promises

I will fight , I will defend , I will catch them all until the very end
I left the country to fight the enemy, but the enemy was secretly hiding back home
We were foolish to believe in you America
Again you deceived me and left my guard down.
America I will always be you Knight

But I don't love you anymore.

We fought too

I thought that my life would be over , as soon as you left to war

I thought my life ended when all young men eighteen and over left
I thought I would be depressed because of the war,
but when you left I smiled.

As I walked back home , I saw all the young ladies laughing and celebrating.
No more baking, no more making, no more waiting ,
no more wasting, no more machismo
Today I become my own hero
No more Snow White waiting for my prince to come
My sisters and I will become Rosie the Riveter

You may be battling over seas , but here at home all women are in battle too
We thought if you can do it , so can we
If you can be patriotic , women can also be when our country calls

We made worked in every industry

To build the tools of War
guns and tanks and planes
To ships and so much more.
We aren't lazing at home
We work day and night to defend and free the men
You may not acknowledge it because I am a women ,but if it wasn't for us

You couldn't have won the war

When you come back , Ill welcome you with open arms
But warning I do say , that Snow white is long gone
Rosie The Riveter is here to stay .

World War II was and will always be a major event in history. It is a broad event that can be
broken down into many genres. I choose WWII because there are many perspectives and there
are many emotions that we have not yet have discovered. It might have been a devastating ,
depressing war over all , but there were many who felt different about it ,yes it was tragic but
there were some who saw a positive outcome .Also because there we Historical figures that
today we see in our time period (Donald Trump) and it is scary how similar they seem to be. That
is the beauty of history , it can be lived in the past and it can come back in the future. World War
II is seen as an never ending war, a war that devastated and wasn't supported by many, but to our
surprise they were many who never surrendered and approved of the war. These type of events,
ideas, and feelings of this particular era is interesting because many left to fight for their
country , with pride and honor. Many who stayed back home ,also fought the battle in a
different way. War World 2 is interesting because of the different perspectives and that's why I
choose this era.
History is usually learned through textbooks, biographies, and essays. There can be many dates
and events in just one chapter , that many students tend to forget about what they just learned.
The emotions of what people felt during WW2 can't be portrayed and transferred to the reader
with just essays or biographies. With poems ,I believe that the readers can learn more about
WWII or other eras by feeling the emotions and trying to understand and see the perspective of

each character. Through repetition, metaphors, and tone , the audience is able to see where each
character is standing and how they were impacted by the war.
Most of my poems, show repetition, metaphors, tone, and references/anecdotes so the audience
can understand the situation more and see the important keys of the poem. On my first poem , I
wanted to show how Martin is captivated by Hitler's ideas and how he shows them to the public.
He is admiring Hitler like a God, who was sent to solve and made Germany a better country. He
is just so captivated by him he is ignoring what Hitler is doing by taking the Jews, Communist,
Unionist, etc. He starts to pay attention when it comes to his interest, the Protestant Church. By
making Hitler smile ,it distracts the reader what he is about to do with Martin. To make this
betrayal more intense I use the reference of emperor Caesar when he was betrayed so the reader
can feel the pain of Martin and connect of it must have felt to be betrayed by someone you love.
For the other poems, I took minority, and majority groups that were involved in WWII. They all
have different standings and perspectives but the important facts or ideas each character(s) feels
about the war are repeated. I used repetition to show the audience the plot and the feelings of
each character in the poem. With repetition you can show how each verse means something
completely different from the beginning. It may be the same words repeating over and over again
, but each time there is a new tone . These poems show how many different people, gender, races
felt about World War II and how each fought their own enemy. History is shown through these
poems, whether it was a personal or social experience . These experiences show the precedent of
our history today and what each of us stand for. World War II may have been a battle the whole
world fought , but through these poems we can see that all individuals were fighting a battle
within a battle.
