A. What went well last week

Alston / Nenthead

Samuel Kings

Good to see the successful trips and visits last week: Langwathby
Church; Beamish Wild and Bowlees. Huge thanks to the staff who have
organised these experiences and overseen them. Final trips for the
term take place this week.
Well done to Chris and Jack on their second place success in the QEGS
debating competition. Thanks to FB for helping them to prepare.
Both schools contributed strongly to a successful U Dance night at the
Sands Centre. Thanks to all those staff who went along in support, and
special thanks to CR / AH. Good to see the thought that had gone into
the choreography and performances.
Parent Consultations now well underway. Plenty of positive feedback
thus far.

Thanks to ST for managing the KS4 PSHE day as she did. Students got
the best of both worlds, in their lessons where they needed to be and
in the sessions when they could.
Thanks to KO for delivering the radicalization INSET. A good session
and well led.
All three Governor Committee meetings now done and dusted for the
term. Full Governing Body meets this Tuesday.
Nice for students to meet Bishop Christine Hardman on Wednesday and
thanks to Rev. Mark Nash-Williams for returning on Friday for his
assembly.
Year 9-11 Parent Consultations went well. 100% turn out from Year 11
families.
SL happy with the Drama moderation. Students did well.

From ST:
John from Inspira is in at 9am on Monday morning to talk to all Year 11s about the National Citizenship
Service. There wont be an assembly, but can all Year 11s please register and then go to the Computer
Room for this talk.
Ill be sending round an email asking for anecdotal evidence on the progress of our intervention
students. Please can teachers write a short summary on how they are doing in lessons positive and
negative Ill list the students in the email. Thank you.
Tutor time theme is PSHE but some forms may well be doing last minute preparation for the Enterprise
afternoon on Wednesday. If your form has finished the Enterprise prep, the theme is Gangs and Gang
Crime.

From LC:
Please can all year 7 teachers ensure that I receive last weeks class reports this morning so we can
review this information. Year 8's who were placed on report last week will continue this week, can all
tutors make sure they re-issue them this morning. All students on report must get them signed during
breaks and at the end of the day by their tutor.
Assessment check point data is due in this Wednesday. Keep in mind that this needs to be accurate
information that can be backed up by your subject assessment model that you have highlighted in your
teachers files.
Thank you to all staff that have offered revision sessions over Easter, letters were handed out at parents
evening. I know from speaking to parents and students that the interest is high and many are very

appreciative of the opportunity to attend these sessions over Easter.

From IPJ: Continuing the revision theme, I would expect students to complete at least ten hours of
revision over the Easter holiday for a subject to be examined this summer. Please could we all set this
work. A list of ten one hour tasks would be spot on. Five two hour tasks would also work. You need to
print out and explain your tasks for students and also forward them to Pamela next Monday so that they
can go on the website as homework.
