Problem 1: Short answer. Draw a box around your answers.
a. An inductor of L=0.5 H is suddenly connected to a voltage source of 10V at time t=0. What is
the energy [J] stored within the inductor at time t=0.1s? (5 pts)
b. What is the equivalent capacitance looking into terminals a and b in the circuit below? (5 pts)

c. If the energy stored in a 44 F capacitor at a given time is 2 J and is decreasing at 100 J/s, what
is the current and voltage across the capacitor? (10 pts)
Problem 2: Consider the circuit below. Use NODAL ANALYSIS in this problem. You will not
receive credit for other methods used. (20 pt)

a. Find the Norton equivalent looking into terminals a and b.

b. What is the value of the load resistance RL which if added across terminals a and b would
produce maximum power dissipation in RL?
c. What is the maximum power that can be dissipated in RL?
Problem 3: Consider the circuit below. Use MESH CURRENT ANALYSIS in this problem. You
will not receive credit for other methods used. We know that i1=3i2. Find i1, i2, i3, and the voltage V.
