About Q
Q is a popular music magazine published monthly in the
United Kingdom.
Q was founded in 1986 by Mark Ellen and David
Hepworth, they figured that music for an older
generation was being ignored by the music industry.
When the magazine was first introduced it was sub-titled
"The modern guide to music and more". Originally it was
to be called Cue (as in the sense of cueing a record,
ready to play), but the name was changed so that it
wouldn't be mistaken for a snooker magazine. Now in
modern day standards the single letter Q stands for the
word quality therefore the buyers know they are going
to get quality information and news on music they like.

Male/Female
Statistics

Male
75%
Female
25%

A lot higher percentage of men read Q

magazine than women do, this could be due to
the fact that they feature more male interested
artists, or just purely down to the fact that
music magazines aimed towards men are not
as popular as where as women have more of a
variety to choose from.

The Median Age for Q Magazine

is 29
The median age for a reader of Q
magazine is 29 years old, this shows
that Q magazine appeals to a slightly
older generation as it shows that
there are less teenagers going out to
buy the magazine. This could also be
due to the fact that the content of
the magazine is also aimed towards
an older generation as it has more
structure to it with its quality
information unlike a more fun and
vibrant magazine aimed towards
