Tempe, AZ 85281 (123) 456-7890 rperkes1@outlook.com March 19, 2016 MMC Translation 2122 W. Lone Cactus Rd. Suite 5 Phoenix, AZ 85027 Dear MMC Translation offices, I would like to thank you for taking the time to review my resume, and to express a strong interest in your translator/interpreter opening for American Sign Language. The position being addressed presented itself after speaking with several current interpreters on the Arizona State University campus. Within the past years, I have become fully emerged and integrated into the deaf community. My experience and understanding of the deaf culture has provided me with a strong ability for communication and translation. While completing my degree in Elementary Education and Special Education I have had, and continue to have, opportunities to work with diverse groups of children and adolescents. This program offers skills in differentiated instruction, Structured English Immersion, and interpersonal communication. These abilities allow me to meet and address the needs of every student. English is my first language, and I am more that proficient in every aspect of the language. I believe that my background meets the necessary requirements, and qualifies for the position. I have studied American Sign Language intensely, and gained real-world experience. With my previous ASL classes, we have experienced communication in one-on-one situations and group settings with non-hearing members of the deaf community. Over the duration of a few years, I have become fluent in American Sign Language. Through my experiences and influences, I have become strong and confident when communicating non-verbally, and believe that I have the ability and qualification to fulfill this position opening. There is a growing need for individuals with the ability to communicate and translate with others who have hearing impairments, and I hope to aid and improve this communication barrier. I am looking forward to speaking more with you about the position, I can be reached at (123) 4567890 or rperkes1@outlook.com for any questions you may have regarding skills and qualifications. I will be contacting your office next week to arrange a time for us to speak together. Thank you for your consideration, and I am looking forward to speaking with you soon. Sincerely,
