To Whom It May Concern:
I am pleased to write this recommendation for Dalley Wright. Dalley was a student teacher in my second grade class
at Schroeder Elementary during the spring semester of 2015 for 8 weeks. Dalley is highly qualified as a beginning
teacher and I recommend that she be considered for a position as a classroom teacher.
Throughout the 8 weeks she was in my classroom, Dalley was a critical partner in planning quality instructional
lessons. Dalley continued to implement a variety of effective classroom management techniques. We had a range of
students with varying academic, social, and ethnical backgrounds. She worked with students with special needs such
as autism and second language learners. She kept high expectations for all students while building on their
strengths. She worked diligently to incorporate this knowledge in classroom lessons, activities, and assessments.
Additionally, she was conscientious of when to provide additional support.
Ms. Wright included many different teaching strategies and integrated technology into her lessons. She used a
variety of teaching strategies, such as GLAD (Guided Language Acquisition and Design), Thinking Maps, and GATE
(Gifted and Talented Education) icons. She used the Open Court program for English Language Arts. Ms. Wright
also utilized the Thinking Maps Write from the Beginning program during her time at Schroeder Elementary. Dalley
directed students through the use of Chrome Books. Students created projects on Discovery Education and Google
programs. She guided students through research on the internet while being safe and citing reputable resources. She
used a SMARTBoard to keep students engaged throughout her lessons. We used Pearson Math. Additionally, she
was introduced to the theories of Cognitively Guided Instruction in Math. Ms. Wright planned science lessons using
the Beckman Science kit. Dalleys experience in this classroom included planning and implementing a cross
curricular unit on Fossils and Dinosaurs. Ms. Wright included technology, hands on activities, and educational videos
to support student learning. Ms. Wright was able to incorporate many subject areas into her units to provide a deeper
understanding of the topics for students.
Dalley possesses a positive and enthusiastic personality. She had a great rapport with the students she worked with.
She was always well dressed and professional. She is articulate, and always ready with a smile and a kind word. She
successfully established relationships with students, parents, and families during her short time in my classroom. She
participated in district professional development and staff meetings. She had experience in collaborating with the
additional teachers at the grade level at our site. Dalley also did an excellent job communicating with parents, staff
and administration.
I am confident that Ms. Wright will be an asset to any staff that she works with. She is confident, knowledgeable, and
has the skills necessary to be an outstanding teacher. I believe that she will continue to grow and become even more
effective as a teacher with further opportunities. Please feel free to contact me for more information at 562-537-6721.
Sincerely,
Kim Baer
