To Whom It May Concern:
Itis with great pleasure that I write this professional review for Allison Davis, a current Graduate Assistant
in the Office of Community Standards at the Illinois Institute of Technology. Thave served as Ms. Davis?
direct supervisor since the beginning of the fall 2015 semester. In my more than 13 years of professional
experience in higher education, I can say that Ms. Davis is one of the most conscientious and hardworking
graduate students that I have ever supervised. ‘The manner of which she approaches her work is both
exemplary and inspiring.
‘Ms. Davis’ primary responsibilities include serving as a conduct officer, overseeing the recruitment of
Judicial Board members, and organizing the annual Civility Week program. As a conduct officer, Ms.
Davis meets with students who have been accused of violating the university’s community standards. She
facilitates developmental conversations with students by helping them understand the impact that their
behaviors have on themselves and the community. Ms. Davis is analytical and fair in her decisions. I have
such great confidence in her abilities that I put her in charge of ensuring that other hearing officers are
effectively managing their assigned conduct cases.
Ms. Davis also has strong programmatic skills as evident by her recruitment of new board members and her
leadership for the annual Civility Week program. Ms. Davis was able to recruit one of the largest pool of
students to serve on the Conduct Board. She maintains regular communication with them and ensures that
their information is up to date. I have also been impressed by Ms. Davis* leadership in organizing the
Civility Week program, which is slated to take place this April. She has done a great job collaborating
with both staff and student groups to plan this program. With her leadership, I believe that this year's
Civility Campaign will be one of the most impactful in the university’s history.
Ms. Davis shows great promise as a higher education administrator. She is great at multi-tasking without
sacrificing her ability to connect with students. She has served as a great advocate for students and have at
times appropriately challenged our process. One of the things that I appreciate most about Ms. Davis is
that she does not only challenge a process and but she looks for ways to improve it.
Thave also appreciated Ms. Davis’ abilities to work with a diverse number of staff. She is keen at
understanding and managing organizational structure and politics. This is undoubtedly one of the most
important skills for 2 higher education administrator. Ms. Davis has formed solid relationships with bothstudents and staff. She has a strong desire to learn and grow as a professional. I have no doubt that she
will succeed in the field of higher education.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
nm
