Listening is an active process of understanding the text by activating the capab

ility of hearing something combined with various kind of knowledge such as gramm
atical, phonological, vocabularies, etc. However, listening is an important skil
l if anybody wants to study other languages. According to Underwood (1997), list
ening is the activity of paying attention to and trying to get meaning from some
thing we hear. To listen successfully to spoken language, we need to be able to
work out what speakers mean when they use particular words in particular ways on
particular occasion and not to understand the words themselves. In conclusion,
listening is a skill that the students should have, if they want to have an inte
raction using English.
