Artist Statement
As an artist, I use digital software to create illustrations, motion
graphics and comics. Generally, my illustrations combine traditional
figure and animal studies with contemporary geometric graphic
designs; however I also experiment within the boundaries of whimsical
minimalist character design. Influenced by Rococo, Art nouveau, Art
Deco and the quirky nature of 1990s to early 2000s era animation, I
make work about growing up in Florida, being a college student, and
social commentary with a colorful palette. My goal as an artist is to
give an audience an eye catching escape using relatable characters and
elegant designs.

Biography
Shaun Pearson is a digital illustrator and animator currently
attending the University of West Florida. Born and raised in
Jacksonville, Fl as an only child amongst an eccentric family, Shaun
quietly observed his surroundings and channeled his experiences into
his artwork. Fascinated with video game construction and cartoons
from an early age, he developed a healthy desire to bring his own
fantasies to life. Influenced by Rococo, Art nouveau, and the arbitrary
nature of the 1990s to early 2000s era animation; Pearson creates
contemporary work about growing up in Florida, modern nerd
culture, and social issues with a colorful palette. Currently pursuing
his BFA in digital arts, Shauns work has been featured primarily in
group exhibitions in Pensacola; Modus Operandi in The University Of
West Florida Skylab, the 2015 UWF Pop Up art show, Points of Departure
in the UWF TAG Gallery and A Kingdom in Pieces in the UWF Business
Education Center. Shaun strives to become a skilled animator and
illustrator eventually starting his own animation studio as well as
teaching art to children and young adults.
