BUSHMEAT
Finding Hope for Wildlife Animals

Background
Bushmeat is the meat
from African wildlife it's
also how the disease
ebola all came about.
The animal that are
mainly part of the
bushmeat and have the
diseases in their
systems are Apes. If you
don't clean or make
sure the animals are
good to sale or trade it
to other people or
countries a lot of
people will be sick and
have ebola.

What is the problem?

What would you do in this situation? The government is not

providing for reliable agriculture in Central Africa, estimating 1
million bushmeat is consumed. Also, wildlife animals and their habitats are killed and being aected badly.
(BCTF, 1999-2009) This means the government in Central Africa agriculture can not provide and not be
accountable of certain things which causes there to be at least one million bushmeat consumed. In

What causing the

issue?
The cause of bushmeat is
relating to poverty and modes of
economic development. In this
source, habitat has have been
loss all caused by bushmeat
trade, its a threat to apes
population (Cereghino, 2013).
This reveals that killing and
trade is causing their to be way
to many habitat loss. Apes are
being threaten more than most
animals, apes population will
decrease over time if the
government don't contain
people from killing so many
animals there will be none left.
Study show that people put a
barcode in the animals to know
where it came from or to keep
track of it (American Museum of
Natural History, 2012)
Furthermore, its like a type of
hunt game to the hunters selling
and killing the wildlife animals. In
addition, hunters don't care if the
animals are sick they want to
feed their people. That's another
reason why the people in Central
Africa are getting sick and
coming down with ebola and
other diseases. The environment
in some countries in Central
Africa is affected and need all
the help they can get to treat the

addition, to the current situation habitats will be loss cause of

killing the wildlife animals their whole species will be gone and
animals that survive will be shipped to another country where
people can take care of them. According to another source,
Chimpanzees being orphaned due to bushmeat poaching (Jane
Goodall). This reveals that since people have close genetic
relation with chimpanzees it's possible that a lot of the viruses
and diseases in the chimps are able to be transmitted to us when
we consume bushmeat. So far how do you feel about bushmeat?
Thus, the combined evidence provides us with a better
understanding of the problem with bushmeat.%

What impacts the environment?
%
The impacts of bushmeat environment in wildlife animals,
the changes or improvements. This website shows the impacts to
the government in animals from bushmeat, if the apes keep being
killed, the apes will be gone in 50 years and to prevent this is
reduce wildlife hunting (Human Society International Australia,
2016) Do you think the world would be dierent without apes?
The wildlife habitats are endanger and need help from the other
people hunting and selling them to other families in Central
Africa. We also need to help the apes species to because their an
important animals to the wildlife population. Another source is
make a law to control the people and make it illegal to hunt
wildlife animals in certain places or a amount of bushmeat being
hunted (International Aairs U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, 2015)
In addition, this will limit the amount of bushmeat and hunting
of wildlife animals. In certain places in Central Africa there will
not be hunting wildlife animals. These evidence all tells how
bushmeat is serious and life changing to human and wildlife lives.%

What impacts the personal health?%

% %
The impacts to personal health is finding what's making
the people sick and treat them as soon as possible. One study shows
to treat the ebola (which comes from wildlife bushmeat) from
patiences is using fluids and test other people for any disease they
might have so the doctors can treat it with medicine (PBS New,
2014). As a result, ebola is coming from not cleaned, sick wildlife
animals called bushmeat, or fruit bats which carry the disease and
land on food or animals and past it along. However, doctors are
trying yo find a way to treat the disease. HIV also have a role in the
spread of new and virulent disease to humans. Hunting, butchering,
and eating bushmeat places people at a high risk of contracting
zoonotic diseases (BCTF, 1999) Therefore it's just not ebola just
being consumed in human bodies. HIV/Aids is a disease you don't
play around with it can cause deaths if not treated or not treated
properly. How would you feel if you have experience having HIV or
aids? To find out ebola is not the only virus cause by bushmeat puts
peoples lives at risk. It's better if you treat the disease as soon as
possible. %

What are the currents solutions?
The current solutions of bushmeat will tell what are the
solutions people making or made.
Studies show that having law enforcement, public awareness,
addressing bushmeat crisis, anti-poaching to educate children about the importance of the disease of
bushmeat (BCTF, 1999) How would you feel if there was law enforcement in hunting bushmeat? In
general, if they have a law for hunting wildlife animals it will be under control. If letting the people in
Central Africa know what's happening to people and how it's happening, will it decrease the amount of
bushmeat. Another study says West Africa countries have closed borders, having secured places and
double checking the meat (PBS News, 2014). In result, less people will get ill plus having places locked
down so it won't spread is a good idea. Even if the people do want to eat the meat they will double check
it. What would you do if your country was locked down? These secures are showing their really make
eort to make it safe place in West Africa so people can come and go without any problems.

What are the new solutions?

New solutions for bushmeat will show the improvements from the current solutions and also what
I personally think should happen. The goals to create many logging communities basins areas, land to
press people to be educated more about the nature life. When having the logging communities this will
be where the hunting takes place most. Educate people how to properly hunt wildlife animals. When
people hunt they know the rules, clean and make sure the meat is ready to go and have another person
double check the meat. Will you feel safer knowing the rules and having the meat double checked?%

The bushmeat crisis in Central Africa is overwhelming to people and threatens wildlife animals.
This disease cause ebola and HIV/aids in to human bodies. Animals could cause extinction to some
animals probably most of all apes, that are being hunted. Illegal hunting and trade in bushmeat have
resulted in greatly depleted wildlife. The solutions will have a big impact on the lives of wildlife animals
and not as many habitat loss either.%
