For this assignment I decided to focus on my other educational profession, namely Medical Laboratory Surveyor. I am frequently asked to give talks to both peers as well as professionals in the field of laboratory medicine, and I thought this would be an interesting topic to review with both my peers and working professional staff in the medical community. Although not specific to an actual classroom, this fits nicely into the assigned “presenting this information to cultivate an awareness of understanding and eventually a supply of benefits for those you guide/teach/lead.” My action plan below and the associated power point was

developed to be delivered to my peers (fellow surveyors) as well as laboratory staff that may be leaders in their medical organization. The resources I referenced have years of research associated with them and seem to correlate both classroom findings with workplace findings. Videos from industry experts are included in the PowerPoint presentation. Angela Duckworth is an internationally known expert that speaks to the importance of grit, not only in the educational field, but in the workplace as well. Nigel Green also speaks to the importance of grit in the workplace. Both videos are quite practical in their approach to the workplace and make valid points when cultivating awareness, growing understanding, and pointing out the benefits of grit and the incremental theory of motivation.
