Machine Logs

12/3/14
Extrusion delivered and my dad picked up the plate from the water jet cutter. Assembled
the outer frame with the extrusion and put on the plate.
12/6/14
I spent hours tapping holes in the machine plate.
12/13/14
Started mounting the minor plates that support the sorting arms.
12/15/14
Tapped and mounted more support plates and assembled the towers.
12/20/14
Mounted towers and cylinders to the towers and bottom of the table.
12/22/14
Assembled stack holders after drilled countersinks in plastic slats.

12/23/14
Dropped roller bearings on the floor and spent an hour finding them with a magnet.
12/24/14
Mounted the electrical box and secured it to the frame.
12/26/14
Mounted din rail to the inside of the electrical box so I could start attaching electrical
components. Mounted E-stops and ran basic wires for them.

12/27/14
Mounted light curtains and ran them to test cables to calibrate and align them.
12/28/14
Mounted pneumatic control panel and three smart cylinder controllers to underside plate.
1/3/15
Ran pneumatic tubes to respective cylinders from control panel and did some
organization.

1/22/15
Tested smart cylinder stroke and adjusted placement.
2/12/15
Widened slots for the support plates to give more room for the plate racks to come down
fully.

2/23/15
I had to cut slots in a plate so I could get to some wires and splice them to make them
longer.

2/25/15
Started running wires and placing sensors on all cylinders
3/1/15
Finished calibrating sensors and running wire, started mounting electrical components in
box.
3/5/15
Clipped PLC and other electrical components into electrical box. Mounted correct
number of input and output ports.

3/7/15
Wired input and output ports to the plc and labeled them on an excel sheet.

3/9/15
Wired up permanent wires to the light curtains and ran them through the Keyence control
box.

3/15/15

Ran wires while testing outputs to make sure all were wired correctly and documented.

4/6/15
Attached, wired, and programed the touchscreen HMI.

4/12/15

Continued to work out bugs and fix small mechanical issues that came up during testing.

7/2/15
Delivered the machine to BOURNS and installed it into their pneumatic systems.
