Amit Kumar Singh1, Dr.Chandra prakash2

ABSTRACT
Higher Education is a very imperative sector for short and long term economic expansion and
advancement of human resource which can acquire the accountability for socio-economic and
technical escalation of the country. There is a universal presumption in developing countries
like India that higher education is not necessary for economic growth and development. On
the other hand, it is literacy and primary education that is argued to be important. India has a
demographic benefit of the major youth population in the world. Integrating skills within the
higher education holds the key to reap the demographic dividend.
The Government has a clear vision concerning the vocational education and training system
& has recognized that the system is obsolete and resembles a clogged, centrally designed
system for a centrally planned economy; the Government is keen for the modification of the
system. While the system is comparatively small, it is clear that the foremost reforms are vital
before any opinions are given for the expansion of the system. So, in order to overpass the
industry academia gap NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation) has developed a
sole model to integrate skill based trainings into the academic cycle of the Universities.
An estimated 5070 million jobs will be created in India over the next five years and about
75%90% of these supplementary employment avenues will be requiring some vocational
training and skilful workforce. Provision of modern skill training programmes may
significantly help in growing the efficiency of this workforce. Objective of this research is to
find out issues and concerns of Skill improvement in Higher Education and how to resolve
these problems.
