Distribution and Habitat in the
History
Goldfish originated from a
species of fish called the Crucian
carp. No one knows for certain
when they were domesticated,
but ancient Chinese art and
literature suggests they have
been kept in Chinese homes
since 800 AD.
Life span
The average lifespan of a
goldfish is 5-10 years.
Anatomy: This brightly-colored
fish has orange scales and long,
flowing fins. The average goldfish
grows to be about 8 to 13 cm
long. The largest goldfish are
roughly 25 cm long.

Goldfish (Carassius auratus)
range from Eastern Europe across
to China and inhabit well-
vegetated pools and lakes.
Diet: Like all carp, Goldfish eat
tiny plants and animals found
rooting in the mud on the pond
floor.
Care: A goldfish is an easy pet to
keep and care for, plus they take
up relatively little room in your
home.. All they need is a tank
with cold water, a little tonic in
the water to make it less harmful
for them, and regular feeding
everyday, that's it, you won't
hear a peep out of them.
