Parent Teacher Conferences
Most Significant Event:
The most significant thing that happened today was that we had Parent Teacher
Conferences. Our first conference was scheduled at 12:00 pm and it went until 6:00.
We had two parents that ended up calling and saying that they couldnt make it, so we
had to do phone conferences. We also had three students whose parents did not show
up for the time they signed up for. It was nice to be able to meet some of the parents
and to be able to tell them how their child was doing.
What I learned from the event:
From this event I learned a lot about some of my students home lives. We learned that
one of our students is going to be moving here in a few days due to personal issues and
that another student has been living with his grandma for the past week because of
problems with his mom. It was also nice to see that some of the parents were really
concerned about their childs education. The parents that seemed the most concerned
and who wanted to help their child the most were parents whose children were already
excelling in all areas. The parents that did not show up were the ones that we really
wanted to talk to and were concerned about.
