Introduction
MyTalent is an online talent management application to help CMS achieve its goal of
recruiting, developing, retaining and rewarding a premier workforce by focusing on proactive
recruitment, individualized professional development, quality informative appraisals,
awareness of multiple career pathways, and leadership development.
On the Current Evaluation tab, click the Professional Development Plan (NCEES).
The containers for the Professional Development Plan tab will display. Click the tabs across
the top to access the containers associated with each tab.
The Locking Instructions tab is for supervisors and has instructions for locking containers and
advancing to the next activity.
Self-Assessment (Optional)
Enter a rating for each Element. All ratings must be checked on the self-assessment before
you can move forward.
If Not Demonstrated is selected, you must enter comments under that rating.
Scroll to the top of the page and click Share to share the form with your supervisor.
o Note: Sharing the Self-Evaluation with your supervisor is required at CMS.
Once the Self-Assessment has been shared, use the action menu to select additional options.
o Click Feedback to view the Self-Assessment and all comments.
o Click Continue to the edit Self-Assessment.
o Click Delete to return to the permanently delete the Self-Assessment.
o Click Unshare if you decide not to share the form at this time.
o Click Finalize to close the form from any further editing.
o Click Manage Files to attach supporting evidence.
If no additional changes need to be made, select Finalize to change the status to Complete.
Click the PDP Initial Review link to open this step in the container.
Click New.
Scroll to the right and enter information for Activities/Actions, Expected Outcomes/Evidence
of Completion and Resources Needed and Timeline.
o All fields in red are required.
Scroll to the top and select Mark Complete from the action menu .
A green checkmark indicates the Evaluator has signed off on the goals, you can view the
signature and any changes by clicking the PDP Evaluator Signature link.
Click the + sign to expand the Signatures to view the acknowledgement, the supervisors electronic
signature and the time and date the form was signed

Click the Back button to return to the PDP Initial Review container.
A Mentor signature is required for beginning teachers. Mentor signatures not required for
licensed support staff or experienced teachers.
If your role requires a mentor signature a green checkmark indicates the mentor has signed
off on the goals, you can view the signature by clicking the PDP Mentor Signature link.
To see view the Mentor Signature, follow the steps used for viewing the PDP Evaluator
Signature
Click Acknowledge to electronically sign the form and return to the PDP Initial Review screen.
After all signing/acknowledging has been completed for the PDP Initial Review, the screen
should appear like this:
Click anywhere in the PDP Mid-Year Review container, or click the magnifying glass icon, to open
this container.
Scroll to the bottom if you would like to attach any supporting documents.
If you would like to add an additional goal, scroll to the Employee's Strategies - Mid Year activity
and click New. Follow the same steps for entering goals in the PDP Initial Review step.
Scroll to the top and select Mark Complete from the action menu.
Once the supervisor has electronically signed your form, you can view the signature and related
comments by clicking the Evaluator Signature link.
A Mentor signature is required for beginning teachers. Mentor signatures are not required
for licensed support staff or experienced teachers.
If your role requires a mentor signature a green checkmark indicates the mentor has signed
off on the goals, you can view the signature by clicking the PDP Mentor Signature Mid
Year Review link.
Click Acknowledge to electronically sign the form and return to the PDP Mid Year Review screen.
After all signing/acknowledging has been completed for the PDP Mid Year Review, the
screen should appear like this:
Click anywhere in the PDP End of Year Review container, or click the magnifying glass
icon, to open this container.
Select the New button to update the Employee's Comments - End of Year container.

Scroll to the bottom if you would like to attach any supporting documents.
Click Acknowledge to electronically sign the form and return to the PDP Initial Review screen.
Once the supervisor has electronically signed your form, you can view the signature and related
comments by clicking the Evaluator Signature End of Year Review link.
This process is identical to the PDP Initial Review and Mid Year Review signature processes.

Click anywhere in the PDP Record of Activities container, or click the magnifying glass
icon, to open this container.

Technical support, including log in and password issues, is available via At Your Service
(Cherwell). To create a Cherwell ticket, open a Firefox or Chrome browser window and
navigate to http://entitsm01.cms.k12.nc.us/CherwellPortal/CMS. Click the "I need help!"
button to create a new ticket and enter information. For Group, select HR; for Service,
select MyTalent. Please provide as much detail as possible in the Description.
