Revised Biko Reflection

Biko is a traditional delicacy to Filipinos. It is a Third World delicacy to the Pinoys but it

is not only served and eaten on special occasions. It can be eaten and served any time

and anywhere.

I wonder why malagkit rice was sticky when it is cooked. Its stickiness have mystical

and good elemental purposes why all family and friends come and bond together. Biko

can be the food for the dead. Every Halloween, my parents place biko beside the grave

stones of our deceased relatives so that there will be good energy surrounding our

family.

My mother said Biko can be the food for the dwarf. She said if we offer biko beside our

table for the night, the dwarf will dwell in our house and grant us good luck to our

business, fortune, and etc. For me, Biko is like a fortune cookie that brings good luck

and prosperity to family and friends.
