Planning Memo Project #2: UNC Charlotte Pages:

Profiles, Projects, Research, Blogs
--Audience for this project is recipients of the final report will be: the
faculty within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, particularly
towards the Executive Director of CLAS Office of Academic
Technologies, Alex Chapin, the CAS Director of Information Technology,
Ceily Hamilton, and Laurie Parker, respectively.
--The primary purpose of the test is to determine the current
usability of the UNC Charlotte Pages: Profiles, Projects, Research,
Blogs. The purpose of the report is to communicate my usability
findings, supplemental instructions, quick references and tutorials to
update the page for UNCCs CLAS Office.
--Particular topics/tasks to be included in the work:

Recruit test subjects (2-3) among faculty of UNCCs College of

Liberal Arts and Sciences. Upon recruiting subjects determine
name, profession of study, ask participant how often they update
their profile (if ever), and gauge how much time they normally
dedicate towards updating their profile.
Participants will be expected to perform usability tests as they
navigate and update their personal profile or practice template
using WordPress.
Participants will be encouraged to use a laptop installed with OBS
software to record the sessions via this technology.
Materials I will prepare to organize usability test:
o Introductory script to facilitate test
o Post test review questions addressing subjects experience
o Conclude with thank you correspondence via email
Review findings and compile in report
Produce quick reference guide, tutorial

--Research and reporting schedule

draft of task list, and email correspondence requests.
March 9: Begin tutorial, reference guide based off findings of
personal WordPress, and CLAS page studies.

March 14: Have one usability test completed. Write user test
summary.
March 16: Have all usability tests completed. Complete user

March 28: All materials due.

-- Tone or voice we hope to project in researching and reporting the

observations: we intend to be non-leading and non-judgmental in our
interviews and usability tests. We will strive for objective results based
on observations of our test participants experience.
