ABSTRACT
-Mangostin compound (1,3,6-trihydroxy-7-methoxy-2,8-di (3-methyl-2butenyl) xanthone) and -mangostin compound (1,3,6,7-tetrahydroxy-2,8-di(3methyl-2-butenyl) xanthone) (2) was isolated from n-hexane extracts and flavane
derivative (5,7,2,4-tetrahidroksi-flavan-3-ol) (3) from acetone extract of the fruit
hull of G. mangostana by extraction, partition, chromatography and crystallization
method. Structure determination was carried out using spectroscopic data UV, IR, 1HNMR, 13C-NMR, 2D NMR, HMBC and HMQC. Antidiabetic assay was investigated
using male Wistar rats induced by alloxan dihydrate showed compound -mangostin
have the most effective dose of 10 mg / kg, so these compounds potential to be new
antidiabetic drugs. Activity of -Mangostin compounds as antidiabetic closely related
to its activity as an antioxidant.
