PAT

Mbedzi Orifha

2016

The year 2016 saw the wake of the term Loadshedding in popular South African culture. A
term particularly unique, exclusively to the country apparently. South Africa is running short
of resources to produce Electricity, we are dangerously living off the power grid. Excessive
consumption could be because of lack on knowledge.
I am doing this investigation gain and present sound knowledge of the current Electricity
crisis in the country to my community. I want to educate my community on saving electricity
so as to avoid a national blackout.
The focus of my investigation will be fixated on urging my community members to reduce
power consumption in a bid to avoid a blackout on a national level. I will also encourage my
community members to use more energy efficient electric appliances to conserve energy
and as a by-product, emit less harmful products to the environment.
I will go about the investigation in compliance with the requirements of the PAT. I will use
Office Suite programs to process and present my findings, namely: Microsoft Word,
Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access. A website will be used as a medium to present my
findings, which will be manipulated through Notepad++. Information will be sourced from
various sources; however, the internet will be the main source. Other hardware such as
Smartphone will be used concurrently with a PC. Documents will be stored and delivered to
the teacher through removable flash media such as a Flash Drive.
The target audience is the community members. I hope to present my findings to the
community members as I aim to investigate how this whole predicament affects them as
members of a community. All community members will be targeted, regardless of age or
role in a family, since we are all partly responsible for the power crisis in the country.
