Reeds rugby aims to develop the core skills of all players, providing them with the
opportunity to perform and excel. Through this on-going process the level of performance
can improve and provide greater consistency in results.
Reeds rugby coaches feel it is vital that pupils learn both how to deal with setbacks in
defeat and also how to win with grace. By being part of a team boys develop attributes
such as: self-discipline, respect, communication skills, leadership, honesty, courage, hardwork and team-work. These characteristics will help them to achieve success, whatever
path they choose beyond school.
Coaching at Reed's is led by a number of qualified coaches, with three holding the RFU
Level 3 qualification. In addition, Reeds School has become an RFU Accredited Training
Centre and regularly has guest coaches from Harlequins RFC. We have strong links with
Harlequins and Esher RFC who provide guest coaches. All students have Strength and
Conditioning training, delivered by our own specialist coaches, Ben Haining and Jason
Ellis-Woodley, included as part of their games sessions.
Reeds has also provided a number of county and regional representatives in recent years
and we have a proud tradition of representation for the Independent Schools Lambs
National XV with three boys in five years having been asked to tour with this prestigious
side.
