When I read the job description for the medical coding position with your company, I was excited and
ready to apply. Through my studies for certification as a medical coder, I acquired strong skills in
analyzing medical information from medical records and accurately coding diagnostic and procedural
information in accordance with national coding guidelines. My professional goal is to apply this
knowledge in order to provide 95% accuracy to ensure appropriate health reimbursements. Below are
highlights of my skills and expertise matched to Banner Health qualifications.

Demonstrate a level of knowledge and understanding of ICD and CPT coding principles. I
received a 98% in ICD-10-CM and CPT by using the knowledge of coding guidelines to abstract
important information of medical charts to assign accurate diagnoses and procedural codes.
Work effectively with common office software and coding software. I am proficient in
Microsoft Word and Excel and can adapt easily to learning new software in a timely manner.
Equivalent and specialized formal training in anatomy, physiology, medical terminology,
and pathology. Ive completed all these courses with a passing grade of 94% and higher. I have
actively used this knowledge to assist me in understanding the specificity of each code.
Consults with medical providers to clarify missing or inadequate record information. In my
opinion, a medical coder cannot function successfully without the skills and strengths of
collaborating with medical providers and fellow team members to problem solving. On the
Gallup StrengthFinder assessment, two of my top five strengths are includer and resolver.
These talents have been invaluable during my education in which I look forward to applying them
in a professional setting.
