TECHNIQUE

Step I
Identify the PPS area in the mouth

Hamular notches palpated with


mirror head.

Glandular region palpated with burnisher.

Posterior palatal seal area delineated with


indelible marker.

Step II
Define the PPS on the definitive impression

Posterior palatal seal transferred to


definitive impression

Posterior palatal seal abraded with


aluminum oxide.

Zone of microabrasion in posterior palatal


seal.

Mixture of half base plate - half sticky wax


melted and applied to impression

Excess wax carved away with hand


instrument

Posterior palatal seal defined in definitive


impression.

Definitive cast with posterior palatal seal


area defined.
