Tracee Ellis Ross

(My) style icon, though not main stream or iconic to many is the daughter of
legendary song stress and diva Diana Ross. Her name is Tracee Ellis Ross, I first notice
her on TV a few years ago in early 2000. I’ve never really thought of myself as someone
who needs to see what a specific person is wearing to determine what’s hot or now,
what I should wear or buy , I’ll scan the industry sure, but never really an individual. I
look at fashion as a whole; sort of speak so I had a bit of difficulty with this task. Though
in term of who I think other people look at and follow and I’d have to say Sarah Jessica
Parker for the here and now, she is main stream, she is who people long to see on the
red carpet and (as I am a GIGANTIC fan of her work and fashion sense)I can
understand why. Over all though, she strikes me as someone down to earth, not caught
up in it all. So I can admire her for that, though in the back of my mind (as I play devils
advocate) I still wonder who should take most of the credit, SJP herself or her Sex and
the City Stylist ,Patricia Fields?, but either way I love her. As for my favorite for all time
that would be easy, two Iconic women, Audrey Hepburn would be one of course, I
simply worship her and I think she’s just the bee’s knees and the other would be Diana
Ross the original Diva herself! Words don’t do her justice! It’s ironic really, since it is her
off spring that is my own personal pick.
Now as I said I wouldn’t call her an icon (not yet) any ways. But I see great
potential in her. At the very least she inspires me, and when I think about someone who
style I’d emulate it would be hers. She has this mix of old glamour, meets eclectic,
meets chic. And it come of so effortless, no matter what she wears its always seems
smooth and effortless. There’s no doubt that she wears high end & top designers, the
difference is that when she puts it on, it’s Tracee Ellis(s) no matter who the designer is.
For me it’s about how she wears the look I don’t say or think “I love that Valentino Gown
that Tracie wore, I think I love that gown worn by Tracee Ellis Ross, it could just as
easily have come from her mothers closet or a vintage store. Her look is always
changing but ever her own. I say that her looks are decade less; she could where
something full on retro and make it work in 2020 or something far off like that. She can
at times be Soho,LES or 5th ave. but still fit in classic Williamsburg or Brooklyn heights,
or Dumbo she wears old and new, high end meets vintage she is just multi-fashonated.
And she’s (my) style icon.
