Technological change and

other factors have

transformed business as we
used to know it, into a more
dynamic environment
characterized by a faster
speed of change than ever
seen before.

Accept that Constant and

Fast Change is the New
Normal

The future is coming at us faster and faster,

the rate of change is increasing and the
amount of change that takes place in a
given year is skyrocketing as well. So
much change has taken place so fast that
our governments, businesses, and other
large institutions havent always had
enough time to fully catch up. David
Burstein author of the Fast Future

Leverage the Possibilities of

Big Data

David Court, McKinsey Directorargues that

regardless of whether or not you are a data based
company, all businesses can leverage data and
analytics to make stronger data-supported
predictions and optimize performance by
obtaining a broader view of operations. It is
important organizations ensure data doesnt
become siloed, so they can fully optimize and
take advantage of advanced analytics.
Information may not be valuable for long so its
important businesses exploit it and get utility out
of it, to strengthen their competitive position.

Constant Innovation

Given the dynamic environment a

constant focus on innovation is
fundamental.

Agility

Traditional bureaucratic
organizational structures are slow to
change and thus not adaptable
enough for todays innovative
business environment. Organizations
need to be redesigned to be more
agile; to adjust in real-time as
change occurs.

Face Disruption Head On

It is important that companies

continually scan the environment in
which they operate and constantly
research new ways in which they can
better meet their customers needs.

Conclusion

The key to our success in dealing with change -- at an

individual and at an organisational level -- lies in our
willingness to accept change and to respond at lightning
speed to the demands placed by our environment with
empathy for all those who are involved. It is normal to want
to resist change: to try bargaining and negotiating things
back to the way they were; and to feel frustrated when the
change inevitably continues.

To survive in a globalised society and in a universe

that is constantly changing, we need to see
change for what it is the natural order of things!
We need to recognise this and to master the
techniques to become part of that natural order
so that the organisation survives and thrives in
the storm of change.
