VISITING A HOTEL

WHAT IS A HOTEL?

Ahotelis an establishment that provideslodgingpaid on a

short-term basis. Facilities provided may range from a basic


bed and storage for clothing, to luxury features likeen-suite
bathrooms. Larger hotels may provide additional guest
facilities such as a swimming pool, business centre,
childcare, conference facilities and social function services.

THE HOTEL

We visited the hotel Casa Dorada:

THE INTERVIEW

When we arrived at the hotel we were

kindly greeted by Brenda Santos, she led


us into the hotel to a conference room
where glady answered our questions.
These are the questions:

1.-What should you or a costumer consider

to select a good hotel?


There are several ways for example the work done by

the Secretary of Labor , they evaluate the structure of


the hotel , the services that are offered, the number of
diamonds, the standards and when they certify that it is
a good company , it becomes an invitation to tourists.

2.-What is the purpose of an organizational

chart in a hotel?
For ranking positions, also to the employees to know of

someone with more knowledge and approach him or her


to guide them.

How can the client get information about a

hotel?

The most common ways are social networks, although it


may be through many travel agencies, or simply check
the internet website of the hotel.

What are the main task of the HR department?

Human resources goes hand to hand with three departments : Guest


services such as transportation, rooms, etc. Environment: Casa
Dorada has the turtle sanctuary, the turtles born there in the hotel
and care for them until they are ready to be released. It also has a
close contact with the IMSS , to train staff and review the health.
Who are not considered tourists, however the may be potential customers for other services?

It is called the local tourist hotel have access to six service

options, including the spa , restaurant, etc. We may no be


tourists, but we have potential to buy services in the hotel.

What skills and characteristics a recepcionist must have at the front desk?

Must be fluent in English, should be extroverted, namely resolving


conflicts that may arise, have kindness and tolerance and have
basic knowledge of what is required.

Why is the receptionist is one of the most important people in the hotel?
Because is the first image that receives a guest of the hotel, if the receptionist is friendly , the tourist

takes a good impression of what the hotel is and how is their service.
What would th receptionist do if the customer does not show up for their luggage to the

room, and its alredy up?


The room is left open, the guest still has a guarantee for some time to come, during that time, it comes

to contact the host and if not arrives a charge is made for cancel or not reach his reservation.

What would do if the guest decides to increase their stay and is no rooms

available?
If the hotel already had her room and are not available , it is suggested to go to another hotel, but that

has the same services and quality.

What is a reservation with no guarantee?


The person or in this case the tourist book, but the hotel does not give the guarantee that the room is

available when it comes, is to usually happens during peak season.

Task done by the operator:


Follow up calls received by the hotel, and gives information about the costs, activities , etc.
