Overall Progress:
The teacher assessed A.N.s progress through using observation and documentation tools. The
documentation tools included using anecdotal notes and a three-year-old checklist that covered
the domains of language, stimulation of senses, math, gross motor skills and fine motor skills.
The checklist included 89 items of questions or tasks that the teacher asked A.N. to answer or
perform them. The numbers of items that A.N. answered and passed successfully were 75 ones.
A.N. achieved the higher scores in the math part while her lower scores were in the part of the
stimulation of the five senses. On the other hand, A.N. achieved similar scores in the language,
gross motor and fine motor parts. The teacher needs to mention that some items of the checklist
were not covered because they were not available in the environment. Moreover, the childs
responses were sometimes affected by the other childrens sounds and actions around in the
environment. Answers and responses were collected during three days of observation and
documenting.
Language:
The language part includes 25 items and A.N. was able to score 22 out of them. The language
part covered many areas: First of all, transferring thought into words; this area comprised naming
objects and pictures, using plural forms, understanding the use of objects, naming pieces of
clothes and furniture. A.N. was able to cover all of these items in her daily speech through

beads, puts pegs into pegboard, screws and unscrews nuts, bolts and lids, hammers pegs and
nails, puts puzzle together, pours sand or rice, holds crayon with fingers, paints with brushes,
draws human figures, laces holes, copies lines and circles and uses scissors. Due to not having
hammers in the environment, that item was not assessed. On the other hand, A.N. was able to
perform all other tasks upon observation and documentation except putting pegs into a pegboard,
as it took her 30 seconds to put only 4 pegs and then she stopped. Moreover, when she was
lacing holes, A.N. was able to perform the lacing, but not in a sequence way and she kept asking
