#5 Developing Trumans Greater Impact

Above all else Truman is a community. We learn together, we laugh together, we cry
together, and we make decisions about this campus, our home, together. In our time here we
are more than students, we are neighbors and family, and what we say and do here will
echo into the lives of future students. As leaders of your Student Government we will strive
every day to not only improve our home with you, but to look to the future to make this the
best of all possible campuses for the next generation of Bulldogs :
-Focusing on Trumans Carbon Footprint

Student Government has made significant efforts to help Truman go green through our
Environmental Affairs Committee and supporting the Environmental Sustainability Fee
Committee.
We want to continue this push with a goal of our own: Exploring a Bikeshare program.
Bikeshare programs are improving communities nationwide and through a combination
of funding plans and research for a Truman model, together we can join in this effort for
our planet.

-Maintaining Commitment to Civic Engagement

Over this past semester we have taken great pride in Student Governments efforts to
inform the Student Body of legislation in the capitol through forums, debates, and survey
research.
We value promoting civic engagement in the greater community and thats why its
important to ensure a qualified individual is appointed to Legislative Director and these
programs continue to flourish.

-Seeing Through and Reforming the OAF Audit

Every few years the Student Government President serves on a committee to complete an
extensive audit of the Organizational Activities Fee that students pay every semester.
Not only is this a process that requires due diligence, but under its current format the
Student Government has a conflict of interest in both being audited and having a final say
in passing the report on that audit.
We will work for you to see that this process is done effectively, and we will seek out
reforms to remove Student Governments conflict of interest in this vital oversight.
