What Does a Conservation Officer Do?

The main purpose of a conservation officer is to make sure hunters and

fishers follow laws and regulations for wildlife. Conservation officers typically
work alone but sometimes they work in pairs. To become a conservation
officer, you usually have to have some background in law enforcement.
Conservation officers usually work in rural areas, sometimes even remote
areas.
Conservation officers generally
make around $31,000 to $81,000 a
year. You need at least an Associates
degree to become a conservation
officer. If you get a Bachelors degree,
youre more likely to get paid more and
a get a job quicker than those who only
have an Associates degree.

Education and Training

I chose Ferris State University because they have
a very good Criminal Justice program. They also have a
good Police Science program as well. Ferris seems like a
nice college. It is also fairly easy to get in. After college
to become a conservation officer, you have to be
licensed in firearms, explosives, and pesticides. They
also have to have a valid drivers license and have to be
able to pass a physical fitness test.
