Police officers work in partnership with
the communities they serve to maintain
law and order, protect the members of
the public and their property, prevent
crime and improve the quality of life for
all citizens.

Job Duties
Police Officers work closely with members of the
criminal justice system, social workers, school, local
businesses, health trusts, housing authorities, town
planners and community groups to provide advice,
education and assistance to those who want to
reduce crime or have been affected by crime.
Some activities are like;
Conducting patrol duties on foot, by car and
bicycle
Dealing with lost or found property
Responding to calls and request from the public
to assist at incidents

Job Duties
They use a wide range of technology
to protect individuals, identify the
perpetrators of crime and ensure
successful prosecutions against those
who break the law. The work of a
police is both challenging and diverse.

Education Requirements
High school diploma or
equivalent; some agencies
require college-level training
or a degree. City county and
state police officers are
often only required to have
a high school diploma or
pass all General Educational
Development examinations
(GED).

Education requirements
Departments prefer applicants with
some college experience, with law
enforcement professionals employed
by the federal government often have
bachelors degrees. The applicants to
police training academies often have
military experience.
