About ODC
ODC is a contemporary dance and arts organization founded in 1971 by current
artistic director Brenda Way
Brenda Way, KT Nelson, and Kimi Okada are the 3 choreographers of the
company
In 1979, ODC was the first dance company in America to build its own home
facility located in San Francisco.
Known worldwide for its athleticism, passion and intellectual depth.
Some dances they did were Boulders and Bones, Lifesaving Maneuvers, Transit,
and Breathing Underwater.

Awards
ODCs three resident choreographers have received a Guggenheim, 7 Isadora
Duncan Dance Awards, 2 Nureyev Awards, a San Francisco Examiner Golden
Slipper Award, and a Tony award.
ODC has been hailed as Best Dance Company in San Francisco Bay Guardian's
Best of the Bay in 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009 and 2011 editions
They were selected by the Brooklyn Academy of Music as one of three dance
companies invited to tour internationally under the aegis of the U.S. State
Departments inaugural DanceMotion USA tour.

How to find them

The ODC school is located in San Francisco. Providing classes for any ages.
There are so many opportunities to take ODC classes, intensives, and or
workshops but only in San Francisco.
The only upcoming performance near us is on April 15, ODC is performing
boulders and bones at UCLA in the Royce Hall auditorium.

Personal statement
In my opinion the ODC Dance Company is a unique and amazing group of
dancers that I enjoy watching and learning about. I love how there is a meaning
behind every dance. By using objects on stage, using lighting for dramatic effect,
and the way the dancers move portrays the mood and the meaning of their
dances. Every dance is just as good as the next one and they always seem to
impress me at what they do.
