We read,we listen, we speak, and we write. Writing is considered
to be one of the necessary thing in our life, especially for students. There are numerous reasons why writing is important. For me, I agree with what Anais Nin says, We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospect. Indeed, writing enables us to recall one thing again. By recalling, writing equips us the chances and abilities to improve ourselves. Throughout my whole educational experiences, this is what makes writing important to me. I used to overlook the significant of writing. When I was in primary school, I considered writing as a merely basic skill. I was unwilling to write, but I had to write because I need to do the homework and pass the exams. I still remember my teacher asked us to write the diary and handed in to her. I hated this boring diary homework. Since I didnt think the normal life is worth to be recorded and I was unwilling to share my secret thoughts with my teacher, I made up numerous diaries. At that time, the important of writing for me is to have a good performance in school works. Besides, I didnt think too much. However, after I came to middle school, I became more thoughtful and came to change my old opinion. As an older person, I didnt just consider writing to be one of the factors to do well in school. Instead, I began to think what I can learn from writing. Since I can learn from reading, why dont I find something useful from writing?
By tasting my life twice, writing not only helps me to improve my
grade, but also teaches me to be more tolerant and thankful towards life. During my middle school time, I voluntarily wrote the diary. This time, I can feel free to write because I am the only audience. By writing, I taste the day twice in a positive way. I gradually realized the normal life I considered before is not just normal. When I taste the day twice, I will find there is always the most meaningful or sad thing. Writing the meaningful things helped me to cheer up again, while writing the sad thing helped me to release myself. Moreover, if I read my diary days later, I would found out the sad thing I felt before was just a little issue. I dont have any religious beliefs, but writing teaches me to be more tolerant and thankful towards life. In addition, since I wrote diary everyday, I have more materials to write in the exam papers. The specific personal experiences make my arguments stronger and more impressed. This is another outcome writing fostered me to have. With writing, I gain improvement both in my study and life. When I study in high school, writing enables me to rethink the news then cultivates my writing and thinking skills. The personal experiences are no longer considered as the strong evidence to support the arguments in the exam paper. Thus, my diary extended to record my summary and opinions of some news. Compared with writing personal experience, writing summary and opinions need more writing skills and thoughts. I reread the news before I made the summary. Some news is complicated and long, but I had to make it brief and
explain it clearly no matter how complicated it was. With more practices,
writing fostered my ability to explain the complicate situation and make a brief summary. Besides, writing the opinions of news enables me to think the news again. Especially, thinking in a more serious way. When I read the news for the first time, my opinions were just in the pieces. However, when I write it down, I gathered all my thoughts together and explain the reasons in specific. Sometimes I can even come up with new thoughts. Certainly, By rethinking the news, I wrote to cultivate my writing and thinking skills. In university, I am easier to find out my mistakes and acknowledge the new knowledge by revision. The writing class in this semester offers me the new experiences of writing. The professor gives me the opportunity to revise my draft. During the revision, I rethink and recheck my paper as if tasting my life again and again. Thanks to the revision, I can find out my drawbacks and ask my professor and classmates how to improve my paper. In addition, I gained the opportunity to explore the different views from others by peer review section. Later, in addition to write the paper better, I really have a better understanding of the writing elements professor teaches in class. After reviewing and revising the paper, I can improve my drawbacks and understand the new knowledge better. The writing in university is more purposeful and pursuing excellent. It requires clear thesis, organized structure, strong argument and logical evidence. Tasting the paper again does a helpful job. Once again, I understand the importance of writing. From tasting life again and again, writing
can really help me to improve and learn new things.
Overall, the power of writing leads me to taste my life twice that makes writing important to me. From tasting, I become more grateful and tolerant towards life in the middle school; from tasting, I acknowledge writing and thinking skills in the high school; from tasting, I improve my drawbacks and have a better understanding of the new knowledge in the university. These are all my fruit of writing. Writing fosters me to improve in my different ages. When I was in primary school, I was too young to realize how writing can help me to taste life twice. However, when I grow older, I became to understand by more writing. Writing equips me to explore new outcomes. Still, writing remains important in the rest of my life.
