Role: The Ringleader

This member is assigned the task of introducing topics for conversation. Oftentimes team
members will bank topics and questions from the reading as they look forward to bringing
them up in the weekly R&R meeting. At other times, it will seem like there are lulls or
difficulties moving the discussions forwards. The Ringleader should prepare 3-5 discussion
questions to assist in the promotion of group engagement.
Possible Discussion Questions:

1. From a personal perspective, what sociocultural factors have affected your adult development?
Our group ranges from just completed undergrad, to a few years out of college, all the way to
several years out of college. Why did you choose to start grad school when you did, and what
influences made you want to attend grad school?

2. How does race, gender or sexual orientation influence adult development?

3. Which model of cognitive development, Perrys Developmental Scheme, the Reflective

Judgement Model, Womens Way of Knowing, Epistemological Reflection Model, or the
Transcendence View, do you feel as an adult learner you can relate most to?

4. Many psychologists and educators have defined wisdom and studied the link between wisdom
and intelligence. How would you define wisdom and is it possible to be intelligent but not wise?
Do you agree with the statement older is not always equated to wiser?
