Students Reflection Form Data/analysis - (There are 24 students in the class who all completed this evaluation)
1. I enjoyed writing for extended periods of time and for shorter time frames.
o

YES (15)

Sometimes (7)

NOT YET (2)

I would agree with these numbers. Many students would be out of their seats and not using their time well.
However, it was greatly improved from previous writing units.
2. I use capitals, periods, and commas correctly in my writing.
o

YES (16)

Sometimes (4)

NOT YET (4)

I was a little shocked by this data. Most of my students use these conventions correctly in their writing. There are 3
students who really struggle with the capitals but other than that I think my students do really well in this area.
3. I can write informational texts clearly using leads, topic sentences and transitions.
o

YES (20)

Sometimes (4)

NOT YET (0)

As a teacher, this is a proud moment for me. This data tells me that my directions were clear and students had
enough support to make them successful informational writers. I used a lot of repetition in my lessons and that could
be what helped students so much.
4. I gave my best 100% effort EACH day during writing time.
o

YES (16)

Sometimes (4)

No (4)

I would also have to agree with this data. We talked about effort and writing stamina but this was still an area of
struggle for some students but overall they did really well!

**Many students wrote a specific prompt that they were very proud of. Some students also wrote that they were
proud of how strong their leads and beginnings were in their writing.
**Different student goals included: writing stamina, capitals, neatness, and elaboration. In my future lessons I will
be sure to address ways to elaborate writing and also some strategies for writing stamina. We will brainstorm what
could work to help us write for longer periods of time.
